Oregon Guard engineers assembled a Bailey bridge like this for the Port of St. Helens in January. "None of us in the Oregon National Guard had put together an actual Bailey bridge for almost 10 years," Capt. Karl Pond, commander of Company B, 1249 Engineer Battalion and officer in charge of the bridge construction, said. "To actually construct one, hands on, was invaluable training."
